Baltic Skiff Single alternativ Coastal Racer
Coastal + Beach Rowing for everyone
Shorter than a racing boat, easier to handle and better to transport
Coastal rowing is white water rowing at sea. You don't avoid the waves, you look for them. The boats are significantly wider than classic racing boats, but shorter. This makes the boats waveable and agile.
Due to the larger width, Coastal boats can be quickly mastered even by beginners, so that a sense of achievement is quickly established.
With a classic sea boat (Inrigger) you want to row over the waves, with a coastal boat you row through the waves. Waves that hit the boat via the bow run out of the open stern again. Since almost the entire boat consists of buoyancy bodies, the Coastal boats are practically unsinkable.
Because of the length the boat could be easily transported on middle class cars.
Length: 5 m width: 0,75 m
The boat hull is made of GFRP (Glass fibre), alternative Carbon-Kevlar.
What makes Baumgarten Coastal Boats so unique?
In order to surf on a moving wave and thus overcome the maximum theoretical hull speed, boats need an extremely wide stern and a flat underwater hull. But so that as little water as possible runs into the boat via the open stern, it should actually be narrow.
The stern of the Baumgarten Baltic Skiff is therefore extremely wide, but the water outlet is narrowed by half so that surfing is achieved, but little water can run in.
The long, very narrow bow ensures good straight-line stability.
Due to the reduced buoyancy in the bow, the boat breaks through the waves and does not rock over them. An adjustable breakwater also reduces the water getting in the boat.
The specially constructed foot area around the stretcher is constructed in such a way that standing water can easily be rowed out again.
The fin is exchangeable and adaptable to the water conditions. As an option, we also offer a retractable fin, which also enables lively, damage-free mooring on the beach.
