Inrigger is a rowing boat without riggers. The oarlocks are directly mounted on the saxboard. The advantage is that waves can’t break on the riggers and so the water will not swamp the boat. Normally the boat would have a width of 1.55m. Because this is a little too wide, the rowers don’t sit in the middle of the boat. The rowing-places are shifted to port and starboard opposite the oarlocks. This means the boats need be “only” 1,10m wide increasing their speed. Boats have closed in bow and stern decks with hatches, giving great bouyancy.
For rowing on sea you need a maximum of stability an reliabelty. A failure of the boat on such tours will bring the rowers in mortal danger. For that you should trust on our well-tried baumgarten-quality. After extensive tests with different boat-types in the years 2000/2001 (e.g. Expedition to north cape) we are now able to present such a boat.
