The Boats have bow and stern decks with hatches, so that the bow- an sterndepartments are fully closed. The gates of the sweep-boats are directly mounted on the bord.
The advantage ist that waves couldn´t break on the riggers and so the water will not swap into the boat. Normally that boats will have a width from 1,55m. Because this is a little to big. The rowers don´t sit in the middle of the boat. The rowing-places are shifted on back- and starboard. The gates are at the opposite side on the bord. For that this boats are “only” 1,10m wide.
The scull-three has riggers which comes from inside of the boat and goes over the bord, so it is nearly impossible that a wave will break at this riggers. The boat is nearly as safe as a Inrigger 2+, but it is much faster.
